The Jubel festival wants to propose an innovative approach in engaging a dialogue with citizens about their concrete concerns and proposals regarding European democracy and the functioning of the European Union.
The Jubel festival wants to identify alternative methodologies to consult and dialogue with citizens.
The core question at the heart of the ?Jubel European Democracy Festival? is: how to strengthen democracy in Europe, identify European citizens? priorities, concerns and ideas for the EU?s future and their place in this future?
The festival wants to contribute, by means of a bottom-up approach, to the idea of citizen consultations launched by French president Macron and endorsed by his fellow heads of state and government, as well as the consolidated initiative of the European Commission, with the help of a structured output about the future of the European democratic project and the current functioning of the European Union.
The Jubel festival wants to be something completely different than anything that has been seen so far under the European sky. In expression, content and crowd.
This year?s edition of Jubel Festival will be based not on the abstract concepts of democracy but on the real issues bothering citizens all over the European Union.
Our aim is to listen to people?s everyday life concerns and ideas about the present and future of Europe. That is why we launched the so called ?European Whispers? process. 50 Jubel ambassadors are interviewing European citizens in all the EU countries. Each ambassador is supposed to carry out 5 interviews of 30 minutes each with people presenting diversified profiles in terms of gender, nationality, background and age.
The results of the interviews will be presented to the citizens and delivered to the invited authorities and decision-makers during the festival. That is the innovative approach we use. That is what makes Jubel festival a unique event. This is how each of you can be heard.
This interviews might be audio recorded and web streamed. The Jubel European Democracy Festival and its partners may use the material thus collected for internal and external communication purposes. Personal data will be processed in compliance with regulation (EU) 2016/679.
Good news!
Jubelfestival has become a co-founder of the Democracy Festivals Association!
Nine democracy festivals are now providing a platform for a democratic dialogue between civil society, politicians, business, media, universities and general public.
We are aiming at strengthening the existing democracy festivals, setting up the new ones and making democracy festivals an important tool for democratic change.
Now you can check the official web-page of the Association: https://democracyfestivals.org/
On Saturday, 4th of May, we were in Léopold Park for our “Warm-up event” to discuss about democracy, social cohesion and other European issues.
We want to thank all of the people who participated to this event and we hope to see you on the 6th and 7th of September for the Jubel – European Democracy Festival ?
We see Jubel as a mix of the relaxed atmosphere of summer universities, the vibrancy of Porto Allegre, the method of Davos WEF and the effervescence of COP21
Many organizations believe in the concept of Democracy Festival at the European level and therefore they are promoters, participants or even partners to the JUBEL initiative. Thanks to them JUBEL will be able to give the voice to the citizens of Europe. Please find them below:
